Event: Harness the power of DRUPAL for Facebook Applications

Whether you already have content in Drupal or you plan to build one, you can use powerful DRUPAL features and expose it on Facebook. The Drupal for Facebook philosophy is that the functionality already built into Drupal should be used to create Facebook Applications.

Date: Nov 20th, 2008

Time: 5:30 - 8 PM

Venue: Halosys Office (3940 Freedom Circle, Santa Clara, CA)

Dave Cohen, who is an accomplished Software veteran and maintains several contributed modules of Drupal, will be speaking about this topic at the event.

Dave Cohen's 'Drupal for Facebook' project is a winner of Facebook's developer conference f8 2008 Hackathon contest.

The Facebook Platform enables Applications which tightly integrate with the Facebook.com website. These Applications write content to a Facebook user's Profile, News Feed, and also Canvas Pages. This content can be as rich and complex as any website, so Drupal is a natural choice for developing on this platform. This session introduces the use of Drupal for Facebook, popularly known as 'Drupal for Facebook' project.

Topics include:

  • The basics of the Facebook
  • Configuring Drupal for Facebook
  • Differences between developing for Canvas Pages versus regular web pages.

Look forward to some engaging discussions.

2008 Open Source CMS Award Finalists

I have been using DRUPAL and other open source content management systems for a while now and have run several interesting projects and while I truly believe that DRUPAL is one of the most powerful community platforms, it was good to see it amongst the top finalists for the 2008 Open Source Awards by Packt.

The Packt Open Source Content Management System Award is designed to encourage, support, recognize and reward Open Source Content Management Systems (CMS) that have been selected by a panel of judges and visitors to www.PacktPub.com. Now entering its third year, the Award has established itself as an important measure for quality and the popularity of Open Source Content Management Systems.
